Romeo Lavia is due for a Southampton medical in the next 48 hours, ahead of his £14m move from Manchester City.
Belgian midfield starlet Lavia, 18, is on the verge of a switch to St Mary’s after the two clubs agreed a deal over the weekend.
He is set to become Ralph Hasenhuttl’s fourth summer signing and the latest youngster to leave one of the Premier League’s elite to join Southampton for the chance to kickstart their career with first-team football.
Southampton are also hoping to fight off competition from the likes of Nottingham Forest and Fulham to win the race for Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo.
