Liverpool have smashed their transfer record after finally announcing the £85million signing of Benfica forward Darwin Nunez.
The 22-year-old Uruguay international has joined the Reds in a deal that includes a £64m fee up front with add-ons taking the deal to £85m.
The overall package therefore surpasses the £75m figure Liverpool paid to Southampton for Virgil van Dijk ahead of the 2018 January transfer window.
Nunez has agreed to a six-year deal on £140,000-a-week at Anfield and passed a medical on Merseyside on Tuesday.
Eagle-eyed cameras caught Nunez being driven into Liverpool's AXA Training Centre shortly before 10am on Tuesday as he completed the final formalities of the deal.
