Leicester forward Demarai Gray, an option for Southampton, has held initial talks with Marseille about a free transfer in the summer.
Gray's contract with the Foxes expires at the end of the season, meaning he can now listen to offers from clubs outside the Premier League.
Benfica and Monaco are also thought to be interested in Gray, who has been with Leicester since 2016.
The 24-year-old has been reluctant to pen a new deal at the Kingpower and has made just two appearances all season.
