Former Southampton coach Bob Higgins, the latest figure to be embroiled in the child sex abuse scandal, is known to have had links with Crewe Alexandra, the club at the centre of the storm.
Six former Southampton youth players have come forward with allegations about the 63-year-old, who helped bring through a number of first-team stars at the club, and Hampshire police have confirmed they are investigating.
As reported in Sportsmail on Saturday, former Saints youth players Dean Radford and Jamie Webb were among those who came forward with allegations of abuse.
Now Sportsmail can reveal details of a letter, sent to parents of junior players at Crewe in July 1986, regarding a youth tournament organised by Higgins on the south coast.
