Arsene Wenger admitted Arsenal deserved to be booed off after they were knocked out of the EFL Cup in the quarter-finals by Southampton to end a 19-game unbeaten run.
Southampton reached the competition’s last four for the first time in 30 years and only the third time in their history by outclassing an Arsenal side that had 10 personnel changes to the side that started their Premier League match with Bournemouth last weekend.
Mohamed Elneny, who almost missed out due to a stomach bug, was the only survivor and had to be substituted before half-time because of his condition.
