A man and a woman were severely burned in an explosion at a Fort Lauderdale salvage yard, officials said.
The incident was reported shortly before 11:45 a.m. at 2731 NW 19th Street, said Timothy Heiser, deputy chief for Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue.
Numerous cars and trucks in various stages of apparent disrepair are within the property where the salvage yard is located.
Arriving crews "found the man and woman injured after there had been some sort of explosion," Heiser said.
The two people were transported to Broward Health Medical Center but they will likely be sent to the burn unit at Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma center in Miami, Heiser said.
