TAMPA, DEC. 11, 2015 – Senior guard Courtney Williams (Folkston, Ga.) has been named to the early-season watch list for the 2016 Naismith Trophy Thursday. Since 1983, the Naismith Trophy has recognized the top player in women’s basketball.
The midseason watch list of 30 will be announced on February 10, and the 10 semifinalists named on March 3. Four finalists are determined on March 18, while the winner will be announced on April 4.
Four players from the American Athletic Conference are among the 50 players to make the list. Williams joins UConn’s Moriah Jefferson, Morgan Tuck and Breanna Stewart, a two-time winner of the award.
