An arrest warrant has been issued in Hillsborough County on former USF QB Matt Grothe, charged with felony battery in the wake of a December incident at his residence in Odessa.
The charge comes with a $2,000 bond, according to Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office records. Grothe, 29, wasn't aware of the warrant when reached Tuesday morning by the Tampa Bay Times, but said he spoke to police about the incident "a while back."
A sworn criminal affidavit indicates that around 4 a.m. on Dec. 19, Grothe "actually and intentionally" struck a male victim (whose name is redacted), causing great bodily harm.
