Saenz and former Bull Cristin Granados will suit up for Costa Rica in the country’s Women’s World Cup opening match against Spain on Tuesday, June 9.
“There is nothing like the pinnacle of playing in the World Cup and how that will enhance her as a player and how that will enhance our team as a program with her experience,” said USF head coach Denise Schilte-Brown of Saenz. “She’s going to come back and hopefully lead our team to our strongest season ever.”
Saenz, a senior defender from San Jose, Costa Rica, has been a member of her full national team since 2008 and has represented USF well at the collegiate level since 2012.
