The South Florida Bulls added former Ole Miss tight end Jacob Mathis recently to bolster a position with very little experience behind starter Mitchell Wilcox.
Mathis—6’4”, 246 lbs— was a former 4-star prospect and Under Armour All-American from Berkeley Prep in the 2016 recruiting cycle and was the 11th ranked TE in the country. He redshirted his freshman season and did not get into a game in 2017. In April he announced his intentions to transfer and landed back in Tampa.
While he lacks game experience, he will certainly help a very young tight end position where only Wilcox has played in a game.
