In what some might deem a late-summer coup for USF men's basketball, the Bulls have hired veteran college coach Murry Bartow to fill the vacancy on their staff.
Bartow, who turns 55 on Thursday, won 327 games and earned four NCAA Tournament trips as coach at UAB (1996-2002) and East Tennessee State (2003-15). He replaces Oliver Antigua, who resigned amid an NCAA probe into possible academic fraud issues at USF.
His dad, Gene, replaced John Wooden at UCLA before starting the program at UAB in 1978.
"He is someone who has great integrity and a basketball pedigree," Bulls coach Orlando Antigua said in a USF news release.
