Authorities credited an alert employee of an oceanfront condominium with a tip that led them Wednesday to a luxury car suspected of being involved in a hit-and-run Oakland Park crash that left a 22-year-old man with critical injuries.
Joseph Deverson of Fort Lauderdale was struck around 10:45 p.m Monday while riding a Go-Ped, a motorized scooter, in the 3100 block of Powerline Road, Broward Sheriff's officials said.
He remained hospitalized at Broward Health Medical Center, where family members were keeping a bedside vigil.
The employee of the Fort Lauderdale condo notified the Broward Sheriff's Traffic Homicide Unit when he saw news reports about a white BMW that fled the scene of the Monday crash.
