TAMPA, SEPT. 6, 2016 – Willie Taggart’s weekly press conference started with a special question from USF’s very own head coach Tuesday afternoon.
“Does everybody know what today is?” Taggart asked.
On this day in 1997, USF announced its college football presence with authority by rolling past Kentucky Wesleyan, 80-3, in the Bulls’ first-ever game at old Tampa Stadium.
“I don’t think any of us expected it to be this big so soon,” said the late and great Lee Roy Selmon, who helped USF’s football dream come to fruition.
