Syracuse-USF notes: Taggart takes blame for clock snafu

JIM DAMASKE | Times

By the end of the Bulls' 21-point romp Saturday, some clock mismanagement in the waning moments of the first half no longer seemed consequential.

But it could have proven catastrophic.

With the Bulls nursing a 7-3 lead and moving in the red zone in the final minute, QB Quinton Flowers found TE Sean Price for an 8-yard gain to the Syracuse 3. Price failed to get out of bounds, however, and the clock kept ticking. By the time Coach Willie Taggart called a timeout, three seconds remained.

As a result, USF had to settle for a 21-yard Emilio Nadelman field goal instead of possibly another shot at the end zone.
