Sweating more than usual? Blame Tropical Storm Bill

You've probably noticed – from the sweat dripping off your brow – that it's been steamy hot in the past few days.

Blame Tropical Storm Bill, which hit Texas Tuesday, for raising humidity levels here considerably higher than normal as its moisture wafted across the Gulf of Mexico, said meteorologist Brad Diehl of the National Weather Service in Miami.

"Just walking around, you could feel it," he said. "It was almost oppressive."

As of Tuesday, the relative humidity here dropped into the normal range for this time of year. But that's still high enough to make temperatures feel five to seven degrees warmer than the actual readings.
