In the first few hours following President Barack Obama's announcement of a deal with Iran aimed at slowing its attempts to develop nuclear weapons, South Florida Republicans reacted quickly — and negatively.
Democrats struck a different tone, pledging to carefully look at the details when they're presented to Congress.
U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee and candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, was the first to react. He opposes the deal.
From Rubio:
"I have said from the beginning of this process that I would not support a deal with Iran that allows the mullahs to retain the ability to develop nuclear weapons, threaten Israel, and continue their regional expansionism and support for terrorism.
