A Broward County man has been deported to his native Pakistan after he served time in federal prison for plotting to blow up South Florida targets.
Imran Mandhai, 32, of Hollywood, was arrested in May 2002 and later admitted he conspired to bomb a National Guard Armory and Florida Power & Light substations in Broward and Miami-Dade counties.
He became eligible for release in March after serving most of his 14-year term. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials took him into custody at the federal prison in Terre Haute, Ind.
Mandhai was deported to Karachi earlier this week on a commercial flight from Chicago.
