TAMPA (September 22, 2023) – In a tense conference opening matchup, the University of South Florida men's soccer (2-5, 0-1) fell to No. 6/3 SMU (7-1, 2-0), 2-1, at Corbett Stadium on Friday evening.
The Mustangs managed to find the net first in the early going. In the 17th minute, Jeldrik Dallmann scored the first goal of the night for the visitors. From that point on it was a tense back-and-forth battle on the pitch. Then in the 58th minute, the Bulls' Brian Schaefer netted the equalizer off of a corner from Ajmeer Spengler.
