Shoppers headed to the stores today hoping to save money on back-to-school supplies — and more.
Today kicked off the first of 10 days when Florida shoppers are free from paying taxes on electronics, school supplies and apparel up to a certain price tag.
Until Aug. 16, shoppers don't have to pay taxes on clothing of $100 or less; school supplies of $15 or less; or the first $750 of personal computers and computer-related accessories.
The tax exemption applies to everyone, not just families with children. But Belkis Alfonso got to Sawgrass Mills in Sunrise as soon as it opened Friday, hoping to save money on school clothes for her teenage.
