A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for all of South Florida through 7 p.m. today, as powerful storms already are rolling across the region.
The storms hold potential to produce lightning, hail, gusty winds and even tornadoes, the National Weather Service said.
Over the next few days, South Florida can expect lots of showers, storms and clouds.
The rain is being triggered by a slow-moving cold front that won't bring much cold air, said meteorologist Steven Ippoliti of the National Weather Service in Miami.
"It's bringing moisture to the area and destabilizing the atmosphere," he said.
