A search was taking place Tuesday afternoon for a man who robbed a convenience store and got away — in a Plantation police cruiser.
Police spokesman Phil Toman said that on Tuesday morning officials got a call about a fight at a convenience store, but it turned out to be an armed robbery.
An officer saw the man "and the guy was running, so [the officer] got out real quick" of the squad car, Toman said. However, the suspect "doubled back" and got into the police car — which still had its keys in the ignition — and drove off.
