Gerry Bohanon, a junior transfer from Baylor who helped lead the Bears to a Big 12 Conference championship and a Sugar Bowl victory last season, has been named starting quarterback for the Bulls, Coach Jeff Scott announced Monday.
Bohanon, a 6-foot-3, 226-pound right-hander whose first name is pronounced "Gary,'' started 12 games last season for the Bears while totaling 2,523 yards (2,200 passing and 323 rushing) and 27 touchdowns (18 passing and nine rushing). He transferred to USF in May after spring football drills had been completed.
Bohanon was selected over sophomore incumbent Timmy McClain, a 6-1, 198-pound left-hander who started nine games for the Bulls last season while passing for 1,888 yards and five touchdowns in his true freshman year.
