Two men posing as construction workers robbed a 94-year-old woman in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday evening, police said.
Wearing hard hats and work vests, the men went to the woman's home about 6:45 p.m. and told her there was damage to her seawall that they needed to show her, said Detective Tracy Figone, police spokeswoman. The woman then followed one of the men to the seawall.
While outside, the man sprayed an unknown substance on the woman's hands, then assisted her back inside so she could wash it off, Figone said. During the ruse, the men stole several pieces of jewelry from the woman's home on Fiesta Way, just off East Las Olas Boulevard.
