The two dead kittens — her pets — that masked robbers were holding when they slipped into the Deerfield Beach home of a disabled woman were meant to make her comply with their demands for jewelry and credit cards.
The robbers, who went in through a sliding-glass door Thursday afternoon, threatened to kill Deborah Plasse's other pets if she resisted, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.
And when Plasse, 60, told the two men that she had little to steal, Detective Vincent Coldwell said they became physical.
"The victim has a hard time walking, so once she was thrown to the ground they stood over her and she was intentionally cut her on her face, on her arm and on her abdomen with shards of glass," he said.
