Anthony "Big Tony" Moscatiello's lawyer wasted little time Monday distancing his client from Anthony "Little Tony" Ferrari, the man convicted in 2013 of murdering Miami Subs founder Gus Boulis.
Ferrari, 58, is serving a life sentence for his role in the Boulis murder, a case that took more than a decade to come to trial and returned to a Broward courtroom Monday. Moscatiello, 77, is accused of being the mastermind of the execution-style slaying, but his lawyer, Kenneth Malnik, told the jurors Ferrari was their guy.
"Ferrari lived to be a gangster," Malnik said, "to be somebody he wasn't.
