Report: Weist hired as USF receivers coach

USF coach Willie Taggart reportedly again has tapped into his Western Kentucky pipeline to fill a staff vacancy.

Fox Sports veteran college football writer Bruce Feldman reported Wednesday that Taggart has hired veteran assistant T.J. Weist as receivers coach. A 50-year-old Alabama alumnus and former Tide receiver, Weist replaces Ron Dugans, who resigned after two seasons to take the same position at Miami.

Weist was an offensive assistant with Taggart at WKU for five years including the Hilltoppers' Division I-AA national title season in 2002. He may best be remembered by Bulls fans, however, as Connecticut's interim coach when USF edged the Huskies, 13-10, in East Hartford for one of their two victories in 2013.
