Charlie Strong reportedly has added another native south Floridian to his staff, hiring Miami Carol City defensive coordinator Damon Cogdell to his staff.
CBS Miami's J.T. Wilcox reported the hire Wednesday evening. Cogdell, raised in Opa-Locka, would become the second south Florida native on Strong's staff, joining new secondary coach Blue Adams.
A Miramar High alumnus, Cogdell spent two seasons as co-defensive line coach at West Virginia -- where he played linebacker in the mid-1990s -- before his contract expired in January 2016. He was once deemed an NFL prospect before breaking his hip in a game at Syracuse on Nov.
