Law enforcement officials from agencies across Palm Beach County joined community members Saturday for a use-of-force symposium aimed at staying ahead of violence like the riots that shook Ferguson and Baltimore after deaths at the hands of police.
During the more than three-hour roundtable, leaders from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and several other local agencies answered questions about how they handle training, accountability and community relations. They also listened to comments from residents, some of whom expressed a lack of trust in law enforcement.
The event was organized by Palm Beach County Commissioner Priscilla Taylor, who said she thought the community needed to have a conversation in response to the national debate about high-profile police shootings and questions about local use-of-force incidents.
