Billboards along Interstate 95 in south Broward County warn drivers what's ahead: Plastic poles are coming. But not until September.
Crews still have more paving to do before the poles separating the express lanes from other traffic are installed. The work is taking longer than expected because workers are removing and replacing much more asphalt than called for in the project's original plans.
But the end is in sight as the Florida Department of Transportation extends the express lanes about 13 miles from the Golden Glades to Broward Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale.
