PLANTATION -- A police officer who was assaulted fired his gun Sunday night, said Detective Philip Toman, a spokesman for the Plantation Police Department.
The officer was injured in the face and taken to Westside Regional Medical Center, Plantation Fire authorities said in a tweet.
Another person was taken as a trauma alert to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, according to the tweet.
The incident occurred about 9 p.m. in the 300 block of State Road 7.
