Photos of sea turtle riders spark investigation

Authorities are investigating after photos of two women riding a sea turtle have emerged on social media.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission say the images were sent over Snapchat and appear to have been taken in Melbourne Beach, an area well-known for egg-laying sea turtles.

A spokesman told Florida Today (http://tinyurl.com/create.php ) that investigators have made contact with one of the women and planned to interview her. They declined to release her name. It's unclear when the photos were taken.

Harassing or molesting a sea turtle is a felony offense.
