Palm Beach County schools reopened Monday for the first day back from summer with a shortage of teachers and bus drivers.
Despite being down 50 bus drivers and 75 teachers, it was a relatively smooth opening, Superintendent Robert Avossa said during a morning press conference at Lincoln Elementary in Riviera Beach.
Avossa said the district faced some delays in getting students to school, although he didn't know yet how widespread it was. Part of that is because kids take longer to board on the first day, but the district's shortage of drivers is also a factor, he said.
