O’Neal Tops Own School Record

AUSTIN, Texas, APRIL 1, 2016 – In his first outdoor meet of the season, senior Matthew O’Neal broke his own school-record in the triple jump on Friday at the 89th running of the Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.

The Jackson, Miss., native jumped 54 feet, 10.75 inches (16.73m) in his sixth and final jump to finish second in Section A of the University/College field. Alberto Alvarez of Tec de Monterrey, a private school in Mexico, won the event with a jump of 55-3.75 (16.86m).

O’Neal’s jump broke the old record of 53-8.5, which O’Neal set on March 26, 2015, at last season’s Texas Relays.
