The 2014-15 USF athletics season officially has concluded, but not before one final All-American effort at the 11th hour.
Junior triple-jump extraordinaire Matthew O'Neal finished ninth at Friday night's NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., with an evening-best effort of 52 feet, 10.75 inches. The jump, on his third try, propelled O'Neal into the finals, where he failed to increased his distance.
But as the ninth-place finisher, he automatically became a second-team All-American, joining female jump specialist Kerine Black (1999-01) as the Bulls' only four-team track All-Americans.
Bulls senior pole vaulter David Shepherd earned All-America recognition Wednesday night.
