North Lauderdale BSO chief suspended, removed from post

North Lauderdale's district police chief is suspended with pay and has been ordered to turn in his badge.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said Captain William Jackson, who ran the North Lauderdale department, was put on suspension for "conduct unbecoming an employee" Wednesday and ordered to surrender his badge, law enforcement identification and vehicle, according to sheriff's office documents.

"You will take no action under the colors of the Broward County Sheriff's Office," the department's letter to him reads. An Internal Affairs investigation is pending and Jackson is prohibited from entering Sheriff's property.

Veda Coleman-Wright, spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Office, did not release the reason for the suspension, and referred questions to the Coconut Creek Police Department.
