Kelley Mitchell, a South Florida broadcaster for more than 20 years, died Sunday at the age of 58 at her home in Miami Shores.
The cause of death has not been determined, according to a spokeswoman for the Miami-Dade Police Department.
Whether on TV or on radio, audiences knew Mitchell for her tell-it-like-it-is storytelling and her on-air manner which was both folksy and sarcastic.
Mitchell was an Oklahoma native who was a McMahon Journalism Scholar at the University of Oklahoma. After working at The Edmond Evening Sun in Oklahoma, she pursued a career in radio and TV and worked at ABC, CBS and NBC affiliates in Oklahoma City, Detroit and Pittsburgh.
