A Palm Beach County jury on Thursday tried but was unable to resolve its deadlock on the three main charges in the monthlong trial of Luis Rijo De Los Santos for a series of cross-dressing prostitute shootings. But the defendant still won an acquittal on attempted murder and robbery counts after seven days of deliberations.
Rijo De Los Santos, 25, testified he was the victim of a robbery and threatened at knifepoint by the three men he shot on March 24, 2012: Tyrell Jackson, 23, who was killed; Michael Hunter, 23, and Terence Chatman, 27.
Prosecutors said the defendant intentionally targeted them because of their "alternative lifestyles.
