TAMPA, JUNE 4, 2018 – USF baseball redshirt sophomore Shane McClanahan was taken in Monday's MLB Draft with the 31st overall pick by the Tampa Bay Rays.
McClanahan (Cape Coral, Fla.) becomes the fourth first round selection in program history and the second in as many seasons, joining Kevin Merrell (33rd in 2017). The lefty flamethrower is the first USF pitcher taken in the first round and the ninth arm selected in the last four years since first-year head coach Billy Mohl initially joined the staff.
