After becoming just the third USF running back to rush for 1,000 yards, rising sophomore Marlon Mack will have a chance to show he's the nation's best player this season.
The Sarasota native was named one of the 2015 Maxwell Award preseason watch list on Tuesday. The honor, which was awarded to former Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota last year, has been given to the National College Player of the Year since 1937.
Mack, who was named the American Athletic Conference's rookie of the year after finishing with 1,047 yards and nine touchdowns, became the first Bull to surpass triple digits since former Dixie Hollins standout Andre Hall rushed for 1,374 in 2005, which still stands as the program record.
