A family of four and their two dogs drifted in a disabled boat for more than an hour in the wetlands of the Everglades before being rescued Saturday evening.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue and the Broward Sheriff's Office both sent marine units to the area about 3 miles west of U.S. 27 at 4:24 p.m. after receiving a call that a boat adrift wouldn't start.
Two adults and two children, between the ages of 6 and 8, were found more than an hour later on the stranded boat, about 5 miles southwest of Everglades Holiday Park and just south of Miami Canal.
