Ride-hailing service Lyft, a smaller competitor to Uber, announced Thursday that it, too, will withdraw from Broward County at month's end.
Drivers for the service were notified by Lyft that they can continue driving in Miami-Dade County. Lyft also will continue serving Palm Beach County.
But come 1 p.m. July 31, Broward's Lyft customers will be out of luck.
Both app-based ride services are temporarily leaving Broward County after passage of new laws aimed at "transportation network companies,'' and a vote to allow the county attorney to go after violators in court.
