Although the official start of hurricane season is still almost a month away, the first storm might form later this week.
The National Hurricane Center on Sunday said a low-pressure system north of the Bahamas could gradually acquire subtropical characteristics over the next few days while off the east coast of Central or North Florida.
In a special tropical weather outlook, the system was given a zero chance of developing into a subtropical system over the next two days and a 30 percent chance over the next five days.
