Hate crime suspected in killing of 18-year-old man; three arrested in Jupiter

Three young men have been arrested on murder charges in last weekend's beating death of an 18-year-old man in Jupiter. And investigators suspect the slain man was attacked because of his ethnicity, police said Saturday.

The April 18 murder of Onesimo Marcelino Lopez-Ramos is "being investigated as a possible hate crime," said police spokesman Adam Brown.

Taken into custody in Lopez-Ramos' slaying were David Harris, 19, his brother Jesse Harris, 18, and a third man, Austin Taggart, 19, all from the Jupiter area, police said.

Each was jailed Saturday afternoon on charges of murder while engaged in a felony offense and three counts of robbery with a weapon, sheriff's jail records show.
