TAMPA, SEPT. 8, 2016 – Ruben Guerrero, a junior on the USF men’s basketball team was named the recipient of the 2015-16 NCAA Division I Male Sportsmanship Award, selected by the NCAA Committee on Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct.
Guerrero, a native of Marbella, Spain, has distinguished himself through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. At 7-feet tall, Guerrero’s shot-blocking demeanor is dominant and intimidating, yet he is caring, respectful and supportive. Guerrero is positive and encouraging, not only to his teammates, but also to his opponents. On numerous occasions, he is the first to lend a helping hand to an opponent who may have fallen or gotten hurt due to a collision on the court.
