Former USF coach Orlando Antigua joins Illinois staff

Nearly three months to the day after being dismissed as Bulls men's basketball coach, Orlando Antigua has landed a new gig.

Illinois confirmed its new coach, Brad Underwood, has hired Antigua as an assistant. The two don't appear to have coached together in the past.

"Orlando has one of the top pedigrees in college basketball, from his days as a player (at Pitt) and throughout his coaching career," Underwood said in a statement released by Illinois.

"He was an integral part of the success at Kentucky with Coach (John) Calipari, recruiting and developing several outstanding players who went on to become high NBA draft picks.
