Say this for the dog days of summer: They possess their share of bark.
The current proliferation of conference media days has given football-starved fans exactly what they've been craving: coaches and commissioners nationwide pontificating about virtually every subject germane to their sport and/or depth chart.
Among the biggest talking points: Power Five conference realignment, or even expansion.
Naturally, the subject took center stage when the Big 12 media days commenced Monday. For all intents, the 10-team league's lack of a conference title game cost it a spot in the inaugural College Football Playoff, and while Commissioner Bob Bowlsby downplayed the necessity of the conference returning to 12 teams, some heavy-duty names have lobbied for it.
