A Fort Lauderdale home was heavily damaged by fire Friday morning. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue saw flames and smoke coming from the home at 2841 NW 20th Street when they were called to the address at 9:55 a.m.
No one was inside the single-story house that is south of West Oakland Park Boulevard and east of Northwest 31st Avenue.
It was boarded up on the sides and has security bars on the windows, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue Deputy Fire Chief Timothy Heiser said.
"The fire burned through power lines in the backyard and there were live wires near the back door," Heiser said.
