For the next few days, it should finally feel like the rainy season has arrived in parched South Florida.
But don't expect regular afternoon thunderstorms to persist past the middle of next week. And don't count on them to be a drought-buster since rainfall remains 15 inches below normal since Jan. 1.
Still, a plume of tropical moisture flowing up from the Caribbean could "pose a threat for some heavy rainfall" through Sunday, said meterorologist Chuck Caracozza of the National Weather Service in Miami.
The forecast calls for a 50 percent chance of showers and storms Thursday through Sunday, and a 40 percent chance Monday and Tuesday.
