Former USF men's basketball standout B.B. Waldon remains hospitalized in Lakeland after his vehicle slammed into the rear of a garbage truck Monday morning in west Polk County.
No one from Waldon's family immediately could be reached Tuesday. A handful of friends and former teammates said Waldon, 35, who was transported to nearby Lakeland Regional Medical Center, is expected to recover fully.
"Thoughts and prayers to my former USF player BB Waldon who was in a car accident yesterday," former Bulls coach Seth Greenberg tweeted Tuesday morning.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol news release, Waldon's 2005 Nissan Altima was traveling southbound Monday morning on Kathleen Road -- south of Deeson Road -- when it struck a Republic garbage truck from behind.
