Team USA finished with a 6-1 record in the tournament with the only blemish coming in a 4-1 loss to Canada on July 3. The team posted three shutouts and a run-rule victory in the tournament, outscoring opponents 46-7.
The U.S. got off the a quick start in the title game thanks to a three-run first inning that included a clutch two-RBI triple by Amanda Chidester that gave the team a lead they would never relinquish.
“We always talk about winning the first inning defensively and offensively to get us off to a good start,” Eriksen said in a release from USA Softball.
